Weekend Adventure!

Every year there is this Geocaching Poker Run in the Las Vegas Valley of Nevada.  There was a fantastic spread of caches from the entrance to Mount Charleston to Henderson to Bonny Springs.  For those of you that have never geocached before, here is a tip.

In case you watched it and need a link,  here is the link to http://www.geocaching.com. This event is hosted by Clay4 & whtwolfden and the event can be found at this link http://coord.info/GC5FKGK

There were some tough finds and some easy finds that favor 150 caches joined together to find.  The premise is this:

There are five cards in a poker hand.  In order to get a card for the hand, you must find three caches.  But that's not the tricky part.  For each card, you are given two coordinates.  The third coordinate is hidden in those two coordinates so you must find them both to get the third.  Once you have logged all three, you get a card.  That means you must find a total of 15 caches to have a full poker hand at the end of the day.

On the reverse side of the page with the card coordinates is a list of bonus caches.  If these caches are logged, you get chance to discard some of your original poker hand to try for the win.

All together it took Clay4 and WhtWolfden nine hours to put all the caches around town, but with strategic planing and a determined leader, it took us about six hours to find them all.  One of the bonus caches was so tough, we almost gave up.  The most brave person in the group thought that climbing down a utility hole and crawled down a dark scary passage to make the find from a unique perspective.  Bravo to Itsu_99 for the bravery.  I wouldn't recommend doing from that way.  A little patience and you will get the difficulty four out of five.

If you get a chance, check out an event cache.  You'll meet a lot of fun people.  Just to show some of the people we were with:

This last one is not a person.
